SIZING & ORDERING:

All of our gowns and separates are made to order, meaning we don’t carry stock of the items, so each order is individually cut and sewn to the size ordered.

When looking to order a PJB gown, it is best to visit your nearest PJB retailer to try on the instore sample and have the stylists help you in choosing the correct size to order.

Our sizes range from AU 6 – 18 | US 2 – 14 | FR 34 - 46. All of our gowns can be ordered in half sizes as shown in the chart, so that you can find the nearest size, minimising the amount of alterations you may need.

After a great deal of research and customer feedback we amended our standard sizing chart slightly in 2020. Our 2020 size chart is below, though for each style, we have notes on how it fits compared to our 2020 size chart. For some older styles the hip may be more generous for example, so please look at the fit notes for each style.

Please also be sure to allow room in your budget and timeline for alterations, as these gowns are made to the nearest standard size and some alteration work will need to be done to get the perfect fit.

Split Sizing

We offer split sizing for most of our gowns, which comes with a fee; please contact your nearest retailer to find out the additional charges in your local currency. This service allows brides to order a split size gown - so bust/waist/hips in the nearest standard size for each area.

For example, if a bride was measuring a 90cm bust, 70cm waist and 103cm hip; referring to the sizing chart, she could order a bust size 10, Waist 10 and Hips 12.

We have made a dress to a difference of 1.5 sizes in the past, for example a 7 bust, 11 waist – however prefer not to jump more than 1 full size where possible. We think in that range it is better to order the dress in a larger size and have it taken in where needed in alterations.

PLEASE NOTE: Made to Order is not the same as Made to Measure, as a made-to-measure service would mean the gown was tailored to the individual and would require 5 or more fittings.

We appreciate that every woman has a unique body and shape, so the sizing guide will help you find the closest fit for you, though it is most likely that some additional alterations may need to be done, so please allow time and budget for this when ordering your gown.

How To Take Your Measurements

Taking Measurements - *Refer to the figure on the left.

Bust - The bust measurement is taken across the fullest part of your bust.

Under bust – Taken directly under the bust.

Waist - The waist measurement is taken at the smallest part of your torso.

High Hip – The high hip is taken 10cm down from the waist, keeping the tape measure parallel to the floor.

Low Hip – The high hip is taken 20cm down from the waist, keeping the tape measure parallel to the floor. ***Please note this may not be your widest part, often women are wider lower down. If this is the case for you, please make sure to take this into consideration when choosing the size you would like to order.

Bicep – Taken around the bicep – this is only needed for gowns with a sleeve like Cara, Carolyn, Valentina or the Cecile Blouse and Clementine Jacket.

Gown Length- All of our sample gowns measure 117cm from the ‘true’ waist to floor at the CF. If you would like extra length, please add this to the order notes.
